Director and producer Manuel Pureza, author of the television series “Pôr do Sol” and the film “O Colar de São Cajó”, was the guest expert at the VIII Informal Forum on Media Literacy (FILM), which took place at the Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual on October 26 in Lisbon. This was the first FILM dedicated to film and audiovisual literacy.

For around two hours, Manuel Pureza conducted a masterclass on directing and producing audiovisual content, which was broadcast live on GILM’s YouTube channel . This open class was also attended in person by around 40 students from secondary schools and higher education classes in the areas of cinema, audiovisual and the arts, who had the opportunity to talk to and ask questions of the guest.

FILM is an in-depth media literacy initiative that the Informal Group on Media Literacy (GILM) has been promoting for several years, using open debate and with the participation of experts.

This edition of FILM, dedicated to Film and Audiovisual Literacy, had the collaboration of the National Film Plan, which readily accepted the challenge proposed by GILM.

The event was also associated with the celebration ofthe 12th edition of Global Media and Information Literacy Week, a UNESCO initiative dedicated annually to promoting media and information literacy, a mission that GILM has also shared since its foundation.
