GILM participated in the European Conference on Media and Digital Literacy 2024, which took place in Brussels on February 28-29 and March 1, under the theme Media Literacy Matters .
GILM members Fernanda Bonacho and Sofia Rasgado gave a presentation on how this informal group works, which attracted the interest and curiosity of speakers from different countries.
The GILM presentation took place on February 29, in the parallel session entitled “Developing a statewide media literacy strategy – part 1”, which also featured speakers Laura Delmoly (CLEMI / DE FACTO, France) and Andrea Cox (Council for Media Services, Slovakia).
The Conference Media Literacy Matters took place as part of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and was organized by Mediawijs, the government organization dedicated to media literacy, which helps the residents of Flanders and Brussels to use and understand digital technologies and media in an active, creative, critical and conscious way, so that everyone can participate in society.
During the three-day conference, academics, educators, librarians, communication policy professionals and legislators from different parts of the world were able to exchange experiences, ideas and opinions on media literacy in a fruitful networking dynamic.
