Who wants to join a movie matinee on May 3rd? The invitation is made by the Informal Group on Media Literacy (GILM) in partnership with the National Film Plan (PNC) on the afternoon of the first day of Operation 7 Days with the Media 2024.

From 2:30 p.m. on May 3, in the auditorium of Escola Secundária Vergílio Ferreira, in Lisbon, “A difficult class” (original title “Les Héritiers”), directed by filmmaker Marie-Castille Mention-Schaar, will be screened – in a session open to the community. Book your place now by registering here: Registration Form – Startup Event – Google Forms.

The screening will be followed by an open debate with some special guests (to be revealed this week)! A number of students and teachers from the host school are also expected to take part, as well as anyone else who wishes to register and attend the session.

The start of this matinee will be broadcast via streaming from GILM’s YouTube channelThis will be interrupted for the screening of the film (for the sake of copyright preservation, the work will not be shared), and resumed at the time of the debate, so that anyone who wants to join in remotely can participate.

It’s important to note that schools that are registered with the PNC can have direct access to the film and those that aren’t yet, but are interested, still have time to register.

With this new partnership initiative, GILM and the PNC are pursuing their joint goal of highlighting film literacy as an area of media literacy that is essential for interpreting and understanding the world we live in. The invitation to this matinee session also provides an opportunity to reflect on the theme highlighted in this year’s edition of Operation 7 Days with the Media: Peaceful hate speech in times of war.
